I (Stuart) started the East Yorkshire branch of Club Lotus with fellow Lotus enthusiast John Phillips at a time when there was no such dedicated Lotus club in the area. John and I had both often wondered if there were enough likeminded Lotus owners in the locality to warrant such a venture.
Initially, we considered joining forces with other car clubs in the area; attending several club meetings to determine compatability. Filled with skepticism, we continued to attend until, at one particualr meeting, the mention of a 200-mile night rally was raised on the agenda. I saw Johns eye brows raise and we abandoned the merger promptly!
Upon our decision to start our own club, John and I spent several days looking for a suitable venue, finally finding a pub that met all of our requirements that being the Black Swan in Brandesburton. With the help of the staff at Club Lotus, we publicised the fact that we intend to start and East Yorkshire branch. We waited with baited breath and were pleasantly surprised by the number of people who attended. EYLOC was born; with our inaugural meeting being held on the 17th Februrary 2018.
The club grew in numbers quickly, in no time at all we were looking for a larger venue to host our monthly meetings! EYLOC benefits froma a diverse collection of cars, ranging gtom classics to current models. We pride ourselves in our fee-free memebership, diversity and family friendly values. We enjoy regular organised day runs and a minimum of two mini-breaks each year.
